#50 September 16-22, 2018

Dear Family,

Here are the answers to your questions:

Who are you training, and what are you learning from that experience?
I am training Elder Seto. I have learned that whatever you teach them now, they will remember for their whole mission so it better be good.

What are you doing to prepare for General Conference?
I am getting some questions ready like some that I have seen in the Book of Mormon and just some other related mission questions.

How do you make the best of every situation?
Well, I look at every single thing that happens in our lives on earth no matter if it is the worst thing you have ever had, you can still get something good out of it that will either make you strong or make you weak. So when I look at a bad deal, I tell myself that I want to get stronger and not weaker so Satan has to work that much harder to try and get me.

That sounds like a very good stake conference, and you got to shake President Oaks's hand, that is lucky! The week that you all had was a good one, and I liked hearing about stake conference. That is very good.

My week:
Monday - Well, I went on another hike. I'll tell you what, that's all they want to do! But it was pretty fun. I'll see if I can get some pictures sent. We climbed to a really cool place with a member, so it was really cool to see the view of it all. Oh ya, I saw my first tarantula. Good grief, that sucker was big!

Tuesday - We had zone conference. It was the same thing as always but it is something that you've got to do to get some stuff done, so it the long run I guess it is all good. And you will be glad to hear that we went to the Shadow box and we really are getting to know the people there and they are knowing us to that is a plus.

Wednesday - Wow, we had a service all day today. I mean it was brutal. We did a guy's yard that had so many weeds in it. Man, it was big and they weren't little weeds, they were the ones that kinda sting you and are big. We have them in Idaho. But it was so nice to work like that. Then we had another service doing the same thing, but this yard was a little easier for us. It still took awhile but it was a lot better then the first. Then we found a new family of about 7 that we are teaching now so we will see how that all goes but for now they seem pretty good. But the best part was we were in service clothes all day and that felt so good.

Thursday - It dumped on us. Rain rain everywhere. We got super soaked but you have no idea how good it felt because we were in like 90's all week so we took advantage of that for sure. WE had a lesson with a less active member and she couldn't see, so I was trying to help her out, and when I pulled to open the blinds, the whole thing came down so then I had to fix it all after we were done, but we were laughing pretty hard during the lesson.

Friday was hard because we didn't have district council, so we had a lesson instead, so it was a pretty good replacement. We did a little bit of family history, so that was good to do. WI got a name to go to the temple for next time. Then we went to the hospital to give a lady a blessing so we have been over there a lot but it is a good thing to do.

Saturday we did more service from 8:30-3:00. We had the whole zone at this service deal and we did the same guy's field, so it was a lot, but we still got a ton of stuff done, so it was super nice to have that. Then we got invited to go to Ace Hardware. They were having an opening and I won a free t shirt for rolling a 5 on a dice, so that was pretty cool. And I had a chance to win a truck, but that didn't happen, but it was worth the try. Then we had a dinner that we showed up for they were not quite ready so we played a mean game of ping pong with zone leaders and that was fun.

Sunday we had church and get this, ya I know, but I got stinking called on to sing in sacrament meeting so it was brutal. Ya, I know, but at least I was not alone, there were a couple of guys that got roped into it, and it was the stake president's wife that asked so we were hammered. But after we went by a few people and had breakfast for dinner at a really nice house. I swear people have a lot of money down here, but it is still cool to go into their houses and they are pretty nice so that is really good.

But that is it for my week. I had a pretty good one overall. I am happy to be out here serving, and I hope I keep on getting some good stories and a lot of spiritual experiences. Thanks for the email and have a great next week.

Love, Elder Reiley
