We ask Austin some specific questions in each letter (bold/italicized) and he answers:
How was your birthday? Did you get to do anything different?
So my birthday was pretty cool, I didn't do much on it but before and after we did. It was cool. The people at the senior center made us a cake and they all signed it, we went out to lunch with the Begays at get this, A CASINO RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome. I had a nice big ol' steak and a baked potato.l And we went to a Christmas party at the casino with a member. That was so cool, they had live music and a dance floor, but we couldn't dance but it was still fun though. So I think the birthday was pretty fun. I did get my package, but I don't really get it till the 21 because that is zone conference.
How is the feeling about Christmas where you are?
The feeling of Christmas is really good down here there are a lot of native beliefs but they are uplifting so that helps.
Can you take and send some pictures of your decorated place? And anything else?
Yes I can but I need to buy a sd card converter, but I don't know how right now? I'll get something.
You said in last letter that you were teaching someone that was pretty interested, but you didn't say a name. Can you tell us who it is that you are teaching, and have you met with him more?
His name is Riley. Ya we have the same last name but spelled differently. We connected really well. We chopped wood at there house for a long time one day and Elder Corn, like chopped his finger, so he has got a nasty cut, but he has never chopped wood before. But he is really interested and we are going to still teach him.
Do you get to go to dinner appointments, or are you mostly on your own for meals?
We have been getting more dinner appointments as usual which is really nice cause I don't have to buy a lot of stuff.
Anything else you want to tell us about your week?
One good thing is we gave a lot of blessings I think 3 this week. One was for a sister P. She was burning stuff and it blew up in her face and she was fried. Oh man! I also got to help her husband with you ready... I got to do a ton of welding. Ya he was making a door for his wood stove so he said do you weld? I said ya, so he told me to weld it and I did for about 3 hours or so. That was really good. But when we got back to the zone leaders, they said we can't but we did not know. But I have welded on my mission!!!!!
Is there anything you want us to specifically talk about or not talk about when we Skype?
For Skype I have a few words in Keres I want to show ya, but mainly just questions you have and how everyone is doing back home and like one big thing that happened. Just that stuff. We are planning to Skype at 10:30, but I think that I am going to do a face time call. He said that would be easier. So be checking your phone this week, he is going to test it.
