Who is the person getting re-baptized?
The lady that is getting re-baptized is Espino.
You said you were having a bunch of enchiladas...you want more? :)
No, I don't want any more enchiladas ever. Those little guys are tearing me up. I usually just have a little of them, then I put a bag of corn nuts in the car, so I have something to munch on.
What was the babysitting a 20 year old about? Was he not able to stay on his own or something?
So the babysitting was these members were going to the temple and they don't feel comfortable leaving their 20 year old son home alone! We were dumbfounded, but we went over and just talked to him for like 2 hours. It was weird, but the parents were really glad we went and did it for them.
What did you learn or how did you feel about General Conference?
Wow. Conference was super cool. Really, I liked a pile of talks and it is cool as a missionary because you feel like you are closer to the guys talking because you are the one that is always talking about them. I liked Neil A. Anderson's talk about never ever giving up, no matter how hard it is.
What did you do this past week that you feel made a difference in someone's life?
We did service for a guy that we are trying to teach and when we were done we could really see him feel so happy for what we had done for him. That's why it was so good to do service for that guy. It showed me that I can do service anyone and it helps them change.
Did anything weird/funny happen this week?
We made this drag deal. It was super funny because it was the best way to pull these weeds. I'll send you some pictures.
Are there any trees there that are turning colors or anything?
Nope, New Mexico is always looking the same other than the clouds and the temperature. It was like 60 when we woke up and you have no idea how good that felt. It was awesome, but there are no trees out here to change colors.
What do you appreciate/like about Las Cruces?
I like it because it gives me more of a better opportunity to give the gospel to people because there are a lot more of them down here.
What can we do to help you? Is there anything specific that we should add to our prayers?
Nothing too specific, just to know the area, so I know who to stop by.
Do you want us to send hunting pictures... geese and ducks?
Ya, you can send them, just no big game stuff.
Let me know if you get that email that has my week on it. ok.
It sounds like you had a good week other than football and ya, they are always hard to get over; this email really made me smile.
I think I sent you separate email with my week on it. I did it on my phone because I had a lot to write this time.
My week:
Monday we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast with the Bushman's, then we went to a place that had an old Billy the Kid sight that was cool to see and learn about. He had great stuff in the store there. Then we went shopping and then we went to play some basketball for the last time. It was hard saying bye, because I got close to this set of missionaries. But it's all good. Heck of a good dinner... steak and potatoes and corn. Holy cow, it felt like I was back home. Seriously.
Tuesday we had lunch at a recent convert's houseboat, and it was pretty good too. We are getting some good meat around here, which is good because it is an upgrade from all the enchiladas we have been getting so that is so good. Me an Palmer did some service loading trees on a trailer. That was not too bad. People down here don't know how to use a chain saw, but it was all good. Then we had dinner at the Allreads. It was pretty good.
Weekday we had to drop off Manser. It was brutal to drop him off. But we got to work at a house place. We built houses for a long time, but it was really good to have some service to do. I got burnt, now I look like a Mexican. Then we went to the Juminez for dinner, and that was good.
Thursday we went to the Nelson's for dinner. They're super cool. Weekly planning is always brutal. We tried to go by a couple of people that we got on a list. They were both busts, but we have a lot of people to go by, so it is all good. Then we went to the Nelsons for dinner and we had another steak dinner that he let us cook ourselves. Man it was dang good.
Friday was District council with the new zone, and man, they are not the best, but we will see how it all goes this transfer. Then we had a few lessons that went well. Then we went to the Allen's for dinner, they are less active, so it was really good to have dinner with them. Then we went to Stevens and weeded his yard for a good while. That was good to do for him. We are going to get good trust with him.
Saturday we got up early and went to our investigator's house.. She agreed to helping us with weeds. We rednecked the heck out of this deal where we made it into a drag and hooked it up to the back of a truck and drove it around getting rid of all the weeds. It was super fun. Then conference man, that was great. There were a lot of good talks in there and I got some really good stuff out of it all. Then we gave some other people some Books ;) of Mormon, it was great. Then we came back to conference. Man, 12 new temples that is super crazy. But then we went with a member to a lot of places and talked to a lot of people which was really good. Then we ended up going to the pizza place for dinner and we talked to a lady that was a terrible hoarder... literally like the ones you see on tv. Ya, it was that bad. But then we came back to the home and crashed. It was a long day.
Sunday we went to conference and then a birthday party with a hopefully new investigator. Then we went to a few people. Then for dinner we went to the Korpers. They are pretty cool and they have a barn that they turned into a weight room. Man it is crazy cool. It is decked out like crazy, so that was really cool to see that. Then we went to the Bushman's for Bible study. It is really good to have that too. So overall it was a great week.
Love, Elder Reiley
