What is the update on the pick up break in? Have they caught the people that broke in? Are they getting the money back on the gas card?
Ya, that happened The gas card does not have a pin number but the bank is getting all that money back. The police have not got them yet that we now of, and we did get a new gas card.
Is there anything specific that you want us to tell you in our letters to you?
Um the letters are good right now but if there is something specific I'll let you know. Thanks.
Did you ever cook that deer meat? If so, how did you cook it?
I have not cooked the deer meat yet. I am waiting till they have a deal called the deer dinner where everyone cooks the meat in different ways and has like a feast.
You said that you had a Day of the Lord or something on New Year's day. What was that all about?
The day with the Lord is something that the whole mission does. Last year they tried to read the whole Book of Mormon in a day. This year they gave all the missionaries 14 letters you open one it tells you what to do like read a talk or a scripture chase, and then it tells you when to open the next one and you do that all day.
What is the music like in the branches that you go to? Can anyone play the piano? Are there pianos? does everyone sing?
The music is a little rough, 1 or 2 can play the piano, but they have like a automatic one, that plays hymns. They both have organs they are small but they work. For the most part yes everyone sings. Not too good in any way, but they do sing. :)
What do you see on your drive from the reservation to Albuquerque?
There is not much, there is a casino, and a few trailer parks and it reminds me of the drive to Salmon. Lots of sage brush.
Do the people on the reservation work? Does the mom and dad both work? What kind of jobs do they have?
Ya most people work, it's funny they have super nice cars, some of them, and they come home to like a trailer park. it's funny. Yes the mom and dad both work, but really different schedules. Most work at the casino, it's really pretty easy there. Others work at a farm or ranch, and the Meeches, they are members and they work on concrete, the dad does.
What kinds of foods are you cooking for yourself?
Oh man, the food I have a lot of is hamburgers, ego waffles, raman noodles, toaster streudles, oatmeal, sandwiches, clam chowder, spaghettios and that is basically it for now. And pancakes and french toast. So it is pretty good.
Do you get to do laundry when you go to Albuquerque? Laundromat?
No we have our own washer and dryer and the members always give us detergent and stuff, so that is really nice.
What should we do to be better missionaries?
We have started a thing out here it's called the family mission plan. You think of someone at work or anyone that you think needs to feel the gospel. And you introduce them to the closest missionaries in the area. If it works out, great, if not, find someone else.
From Carson's letter: a little advice is to do what you can now to prepare you for a mission, it's a wake up call, in a good way.
How has Jesus Christ's Atonement made you a better missionary?
The Atonement of Jesus Christ has made me so grateful for when you mess up you always have someone there that will put you back on your feet.
What else do you want to tell us about the first week of January?
I did get to go to my first Indian dance. That was really interesting. It was called Follow the Leader. It is just like what they do in the movies. Not too far off, yelling and banging a drum and some fancy foot work. And we hauled a pile of wood, holy cow there was a ton. But if felt good to do it.
That is about it for this week. I had a pretty good week and I love you all so much. Thank you for the letter. Have a great week.
Love, Elder Reiley
Oh, if Bryan does any jerky or if we get any homemade stuff, can you send it to me?
