#59 November 11-17, 2018

Dear Family,

Ya, we've had a pretty crazy week. Right now we are in a temporary apartment so I don't have an address for now, but we are only in it for hopefully another week or so. It is kinda frustrating because we are just living in this run down place because somebody forgot to sign a paper for our new apartment, It has just put a lot on my head because we are living clear across town from our area.

Who is your new companion, and what is he like?
Elder McCleary is from Utah and he is somewhat of an athlete, so that helps a lot. We have not been with each other a whole lot, so I can't really tell anything yet. But he did do a lot of plays and singing and stuff so I'll work with that. But for the most part, he's pretty good.

What are 3 positive things about your zone?
1. I still have the senior couple in our zone, so that is a plus, 2. still a couple of people that I get along with pretty good, 3. I have a good companion

What is the scoop on your new ward? Who is the bishop? Can you tell if this ward is into missionary work?
So far our ward is brutal and we have a ton of work to do. There is a handful that want to do work, and the others don't do really much at all. It is Picacho now (the ward?) Bishop is Summers and he is one of the few, that wants to help so that helps, but it feels like we will just have to see what we can do.

What do you want/need for your birthday and Christmas?
I need another one of those King calendars with the deer and elk, but I don't know what else. I am going to send some clothes home for sure, but as of now if I need anything or want it, I'll write it down this week and send it to you next week, is that ok?

Thanks for telling me about Grandpa Reiley. I feel bad that he got hurt, but that guy is a worker. That made me chuckle about how he just wanted to get back and do cows... heck, I don't blame him.

Thanks mom for the scripture and quote. I really needed something like that because this week has been a beast and I mean, a beast. I have been doing my best to work, but everyone has literally just dropped off, so we are really trying to start from scratch. But I am thankful you sent that to me. (from Marilyn: Scripture was D&C 18:15 and quote was from Elder Quentin L. Cook - "Missionaries humbly serve where called. They do not attempt to serve based on worldly standards of status or preparation for future careers. They serve with all their heart, might, mind and strength wherever they are assigned. They do not choose their missionary companions, and they seek diligently to develop Christlike attributes, which are at the heart of the culture of Jesus Christ.")

As of now, along with the ward, we are not really doing anything there, but we are trying to get a dinner set up or something for Thanksgiving. We might just make a deer steak or something, but we will see if something else comes up. We will see how this week plays out.

My week:
Monday - we had a regular old p-day, nothing too exciting happened. But I did get to go to Alamogordo that night with Elder Holmquist and his companion so that was a blessing right there just to serve around.

Tuesday- Well, I was with them all day in Alamogordo. Man, that was good to just kind of take a load off before it hits hard, but we met some really good people. We had some good lessons, so it was really nice to do that. Man,I love their area. It is so open and spread out, I love it. I do not like at all being compacted in this city deal. Man it is brutal.

Wednesday - We drove back down to Las Cruces and got my new companion. He is pretty cool, but I'll tell you, there are some interesting ones! But, we introduced him to a few people and we then went to a pretty good dinner which was nice to end the evening.

Thursday - Well today we got a total bunch of free stuff. I got a pile of stuff I don't need, but i'll be really cracking down on getting old stuff! Then we got pizza at Pizza Hut, so that was really good because I have not had that in awhile. Then we played some pretty good volleyball.

Friday - We had district council.  That night was a pretty crazy cop chase as we got out of the people we were visiting and there were cops everywhere, and we still don't know why, but it was pretty cool.

Saturday - We had service in the morning and moved a lady out of her place into another one, and then we went to a few people that we tried to go by and find and we had a weird encounter with a Mexican family that couldn't speak English. Then we were driving and found some people bucking hay, so we jumped down there and we helped them and the lady was really impressed that we did that, so it was really cool to do that. We have some more lined up too. Just service can take you a heck of a long ways.
Then we went to dinner and helped clean up some leaves then had a dang good steak dinner. Man, it was a good day because I got to do a little work.

Sunday - We had stake conference. That was not too bad or too many people, but a good meeting for what we had. then I had to start a fire for a family that had no idea how to do it. Then we went to Bible study at the Bushman's. It was really good to have that for sure.

But that was it for my week. I am glad that I really had the prayers from everyone. Hope you all have a great week.

Elder Reiley
