#8 Week of November 26-December 3 2017

Dear Family,

I forgot that I have the Skype information in that notebook. I will see what we wrote down before I left and figure out how to do it. Oh yes, I remember my password.

From Marilyn - questions from us are bold and italics.

Have you attended a zone conference yet? If so, what was it like? who spoke and what did they talk about? What did you like about it? What didn't you like about it? Who are your zone leaders, and where do they live? Where is zone conference?

I have had 1 zone conference. It was really long but I did learn some great stuff from it. There are a ton of missionaries. A few missionaries spoke and they just gave some cool ways to teach different topics, like some secrets. I liked that it was all about missionaries, but I didn't like that it was all talking to everyone not just to a certain group of people. My zone leaders are Elder Grover from Chester and Elder Nelson from Utah. They are pretty cool and I like them a ton. They live in an apartment complex in the west side of Abq. The conference is held in the stake building on 7 bar loop about 10 minutes where they live.

What kind of service do you do (neutering cats doesn't count)? do you have set times for service, or do you just drive around and look for something to do?

What teaching experiences did you have this past week? Did you actually teach about something? If so, what did you teach about and how did it go? Did you feel good about it?

I had a lot of teaching experiences this week but we had one that was a little weird. This girl named Rach we taught is 23 and she is not all the way down to earth at all. That's about the nicest way that I can put it. But we did teach the Restoration that's the main we teach out here on the res. And we did feel the spirit so that was good. And we taught it with the Plateros, a member family. I asked her to pray, like later tonight is what I meant, and she just broke into a prayer and when she was done she was like, "he said yes, he's clapping" so that's when I knew something was not right upstairs.

Have you warmed up to any spicy food yet? (No pun intended...)

I have not had a whole ton of spicy food yet but what I did have was not bad at all, so I am getting there.

Did you have any weird food?

I have not had any weird food this week, but we might for Christmas.

What do you do on your P-day? Do you get to explore any of the area, or play any catch or anything like that?

My P-day is shop, email, then eat lunch, then go to the gym for 3 hours but I have to play basketball by myself most of the time because no one is really into basketball. There is a sister missionary named Sister Peterson, she grew up in Oakley Idaho on a ranch so it's cool to talk to her. I actually gave her a priesthood blessing on P-day so that makes 2. She lost her uncle so she was going through a hard time. Then we go back to work in the areas that are closer to Abq. I haven't explored yet but we might today. And there is a kid that plays baseball so I could play catch with him. Will you send me my glove and a good baseball please?

Have you done any of the Coleby workouts yet?

I have done one but it's not cold outside yet so we go run in the mornings, but I will here soon! ;)

Where do you go write your emails? Do you use a regular computer or what? Do you know what you will use or where you will go to Skype?

We go to a community center and use the computers. I am not sure what I will use for Skype. I hope it is a computer, but we are doing it in Abq. at a member's house. I think we were going to do it at the Begays but they are going to Utah, so I hope we will find something. I'm sure we will.

How has Preach My Gospel helped you so far?

It has done some but not a ton. The biggest thing is how to begin teaching points we are using.

What are you doing to get ready for Christmas? Are you doing "Light the World"? Can you listen to Christmas music? Do you have any Christmas decorations?

For Christmas we are doing Light the World and a flipping Christmas card that the members give to us. We sing a carol and then read the Luke Chapter 2 and bear our testimonies and leave so it's not too bad I guess but I hate the singing part. We can listen to consecrated Christmas music so that helps. Oh yeah, our place for 2 missionaries is decorated good. We have a Christmas tree and it is fiber optics. I have a picture and I'll send it to you when I can figure out how.

What else do you want to tell us about from this past week?

Nothing really big happened this week. Well I have seen a ton of dead coyotes on the road so if you want to hunt coyotes this is the place to go. An investigator gave me some deer meat so I might cook that up for p-day or something.

Connections: I heard that there is a Simmons kid from WJ that is in your mission. You would have played against him in basketball.

Also, Ted and Shana Micklesen from the 2nd ward (she was your primary teacher a long time ago) have a cousin and his wife that are on a mission there. They actually met you. They are from Pocatello I think. Ted said that they are awesome people and they will look out for you. Their names are Elder Mike and Cindy Micklesen.

One other blast from the past is the Nesbaum family. They used to live down by the rodeo grounds and were in our ward when we were in our old house. Jared and Linda Nesbaum and their daughters Jessica and Madison (I think) live in Albuquerque. You might run into them sometime and they would at least remember Tetonia!

I think I remember them from our ward. I will look for Elder Simmons. Yes, I met the Micklesens my very first day here and they said something about a bike being ordered from a kid from Tetonia. So other than that I have not talked to them.

Tell the Bish thanks for the advice about scaring off dogs! How are he and Gary doing? How are grandma and grandpa Reiley and Hart doing?

Thank you so much for you email. I love them. Have a great week too, and I am very grateful for your prayers.

Love Elder Reiley

PS. Could you send me my deer picture of my buck and my elk picture?
