It sounds like you guys had a heck of a week. That's awesome that everybody had a good week. That's cool that Kelby is going on mission. Ya, I think school is starting here soon.
How many wards do you cover in this area? How is the bishop and ward mission leader? Do they help missionaries a lot?
We cover 2 wards in Cruses, Rio Grande and Picacho. I like Rio Grand better because the people there are a lot more down to earth sort of.
What are you learning from the Book of Mormon and can you think of ways you are using lessons (truths) from the Book of Mormon in your daily life?
I am in the war chapters of the Book of Mormon. Man, I get pumped when I read about Moroni getting sick of the people and just going to work on them. Really, just what God says to do, do it because it is for the right reason. When I have a spiritual prompting, I act on it because it is really going to make all the difference when I make the right choices. When you are close to God, like Moroni, you can know what strategy to use on Satan when he is coming for you.
From Carson: What do you think I should do to start preparing more for a mission?
Start talking to people you don't know. Just come up with a question and go for it. It doesn't have to be about the gospel or anything, but the more comfortable you get with talking to people you don't know, you will be better off.
My week:
Monday - Well, I went on my first hike. Ya, I know. I'm not a hippie, but we can't ride horses, so if you have to walk, this wasn't too bad. It was not very far, like it would be a 10 minute horse ride if that. And we were with a member and some young men so it was interesting. (I'll send pictures.) I went rock climbing, so that was really good.
Tuesday - We worked at the food bank again and bagged a bunch of stuff for families and I finally found some Idaho potatoes. Then we went to Blake's Burgers. It was pretty good. Then we went on splits and went to a guy and had a dang good lesson with him. He cried and I sat there like a bump on a log, because I've never seen him cry, but overall it was good.
Wednesday - We loaded a truck load of meat. The Idaho boys (Holmquist from Montpelier, Winn, a new guy from Rigby and me). It was so good that we did some service. We met a Hall of Fame guy, he reffed 2 bowl games, but I can't remember the guy's name, but that was dang cool.
Thursday - It was kinda boring, we did weekly planning and had a dinner with a guy that is super funny. He is an old prospector, so we went to pizza Hut and got some good stories from him.
Friday - It was kinda boring, but we went to district council. We did some work on a guy's lawn mower then we had a dinner with a pile of Mexicans, so that was interesting. They are really funny but 2 of them are illegal so we just kinda play around it.
Saturday - We did not have a dinner appointment so we went to a guy named Tony Buckman. He is a stud and it was sweet. He cooked up so brauts. Man, they were so good. We had dinner with him, then we later did some stuff for a member that helped him out. We get to go back and fix a roof for him so we will see how that goes.
That was my week. It was pretty good, so we will see how this one goes too. I hope you have another good week.
