#46 August 19-25, 2018

Dear Family,

Who else is getting baptized?
The person on date to get baptized is Mary, Christina's sister.

Did you get to shoe horses this week?
No, I did not shoe horses this week. The name of the people I was going to shoe horses for is Wards. They are awesome, but we did some other service instead.

Is Christina still doing well? Are the members in her ward helping her?
Oh ya, Christina is on top of it. she is just like a regular member now. She is doing really well.

Is there anything specific you want to remember about serving in Las Cruces?
At the moment, there is nothing that I really want to remember about here other than how hot the place is down here. It is brutal.

What is a good scripture that you like right now?
I like 2nd Nephi 2:6-8 about missionary work

It sounds like you guys had a good week. My goodness, everybody is getting hitched up there! It reminds me of Robin Hood when the rooster picks 'em up and lays 'em down and says, "We better get over to the church! Sounds like someone's gettin' hitched!"

My week:
Monday - Regular old p-day but our dinner. Oh my heck, we went to by far the biggest house I have ever been in. They are members and the house looks like a hotel. I'm not kidding. It is so stinking big, I got lost in it a couple of times. He gave us the grand tour and all I could think about was how much money this guy has tucked away in his little pocket. It was super nice.

Tuesday - Oh man. Weird day. We had dinner with the W family. They are something else I"ll tell ya. His mind goes a 1,000,000 miles an hour and his mouth is right along with it. So we had a interesting night there. Then for splits I got another weird guy. There are a pile of them down here but you work with what you got.

Wednesday - Had a big service project at a food place. We unloaded trucks and hauled food for a good while. Then we went to the transfer sight, got to see a bunch of missionaries and did some stuff there. Got to play basketball for a little bit in our shirt and tie, but it was good. It's harder than you think!

Thursday - We had a lesson with Mary and someone that was not supposed to be there. So we were with the B-mans and Sister B-man, let me tell ya, she took that woman and basically pitched her right out on her head, and then sat back down and did the lesson so it was quite the experience. I sat there and just tried not to attract attention. Then we did some weekly planning, took a break and got some water and did some sweet trick shots. Then we had dinner with a cool old family. He took us to Rudy's. It is just a big BBQ place that we can get what we want, so that was good.

Friday - We had district council. Then we got Elder Seto. He is from Samoa and a pretty big boy, but I though he would be bigger. He is pretty cool. We went to a big fancy Mexican restaurant. Man, it was not the best. I still can't get used to it, but I ate it. Oh, we had a U.S. Marshal stop us at a stop light and ask us about the trailer we went by earlier, so I think the little weasel was watching us. But it was for someone else he wanted. I thought he was going to pull a big Walker Texas Ranger round house kick, but it was kinda cool.

Saturday - So I did my bench max today and I put up 245. I don't know if that was a really good day or the weights were not on, but I counted it and it said 245, so who knows. Maybe a mission is making me stronger??? We did service for a lady that is a member but less active and she did not want us to find out, but as missionary you always find out. So we moved a bunch of stuff for her and put on some doors in her new house, so that was really good to do. Then we had a lesson with a guy and on the way out, there was a drunk guy that was bashing on us and calling us names. We finally turned around and said you can talk all you want, but unless you don't back it up, it doesn't mean anything, so he was close, but he just eventually walked off and Elder Seto is a MMA fighter so we were all good.

So, that was my week. Not too bad. It was a pretty good one. Hope you all have another good week too.

Elder Reiley
