#47 August 26-September 1, 2018

Dear Family,

You said that you liked 2nd Nephi 2:6-8, why do you like that one?
I like that scripture because that is the message that everyone needs to know; that is members too. It is just so important to have everyone know that Jesus Christ died for all of us. That is super important.

You said in your last letter that a lady that showed up to Mary's discussion got tossed... why?
The problem was that the lady just invited herself in and Mary did not want her in there, but couldn't do it by herself.

Who were the people that took you to lunch. You mentioned them in your letter.
The people that took us were pretty old and stuff, but they are really nice and love the missionaries a ton.

From your last letter, we got that Elder Seto is kinda big and a MMA fighter... what else about him? Does he work hard? Is he humble and nice?
Elder Seto is pretty cool. He is a hard worker and very spiritual, but he has his weaknesses like we all do. But for the most part, he is really cool.

It sounds like you are getting fed some pretty good meals, do you get to exercise too?
Oh ya, I am working out a ton, not as much service, but a pile of good workouts in the morning. We have a nice gym at our apartment, so I'm taking advantage of that.

In your last letter you said that the U.S. Marshal pulled you guys over after you visited a trailer... was this just a random trailer, or do you actually know the people that live there?
The trailer was people that we know and are teaching but they were not home.

What makes you the happiest?
I am happy after we have a really good lesson with someone and we all really feel the spirit. It is really a good feeling to have when we walk out of the house and you know that you did a really good job.

How do you stay positive?
I stay positive by working. When I work, I don't focus on all the other stuff.

It sounds like you guys had a good week, not much excitement, but that is really not a bad thing

Well I forgot my planner, but I'll try to get most of my week off my head then I'll send the other stuff later.

Monday - We had a good p-day and we had dinner with the Jimenez family that was really good. We had salmon and stuff and then all the youth college people came over for FHE, so we stuck around for that and just got to know some of the youth. We had a dirty ping pong match.

Tuesday -

Wednesday -

Thursday - We did our weekly planning like always, but it was ok this time, we got it done pretty quick.

Friday - We had district council and it was kinda the same deal. That is hard about a mission is you do a lot of the same thing a lot of times. But then we had a few lessons and we got some stuff packet for the chili festival. Then we drove down to Hatch and went over border patrol.  Interesting but it was ok. Then we slept on some hard wood floors that were kinda brutal but it was ok.

Saturday - We got up and went to the chili festival. We went to a parade and I'll see if I can get some pictures sent to you. But we had a family history booth that we were doing, so our zone went and did that. It was a huge thing. People were from everywhere coming to it. It is like a big fair... rides and booths and food. It was really a good time. We went out and just found people to go to the booth and the best part was we did not have to wear a shirt and tie. It was boots and jeans and a nice shirt, so it was worth it. Then we went to the all famous Sparkys. It is a big deal in New Mexico so no I have tried it and it is a dang good burger, except the green chili kinda kills your burger.

Sunday - We did the same deal again. This time it was raining and not a lot of people showed up at first. I was just nervous because it was like 68 and I was a little bit chilled, so it will be really weird to go back home in October. But then it warmed up and we talked to a bunch of people and they were all pretty interested in learning about it so it was really worth going. I had a good time hanging out with all the other missionaries. Then the drive home was good too. We got passed the border patrol and made it back, so thumbs up there. But my week was very busy, so I can't really remember all of the details, but I got most of them. It was really good to have that.

So, that was my week. I'll get the other stuff for Tuesday and Wednesday later, but I hope that you all have another great week.

Elder Reiley
